 For three decades, the University of British Columbia has been committed to the concept of interprofessional continuing education in the health sciences – a multidisciplinary approach to learning where several professions come together to exchange ideas about various health issues.  In recent years, this concept has evolved to include members of the public, often patients and family members who are facing the challenge of a particular disease.  Interprofessional Continuing Education at UBC sponsors conferences for an interdisciplinary group of professionals, policy officials and the public on a variety of topics.  This self-supporting unit, which has been offering programs for over twenty-five years, is one of the few university-based Interprofessional program centers in Canada and is respected throughout North America.
