The Western Neuroradiological Society (WNRS) was founded at its first meeting on the campus of the University of California, Los Angeles on November 2, 1968 at the instigation of Dr. Gabriel H. Wilson with the support of 32 founding members. Early meetings were in affiliation with The Federation of Western Societies of Neurologic Science but the first of the independent meetings was held in 1972. There were only two membership requirements in the original bylaws; radiology board certification in the US or Canada and an active interest in neuroradiology. Through the years as the membership has grown (now 322 in 4 categories), criteria have changed and now include one year of neuroradiology fellowship, eastern geographical limits at Alberta, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas (founding members excepted), and neuroradiology as the primary subspecialty.As physicians, anesthesiologists are responsible for administering anesthesia to relieve pain and for managing vital life functions, including breathing, heart rhythm and blood pressure, during surgery. After surgery, they maintain the patient in a comfortable state during the recovery and are involved in the provision of critical care medicine in the intensive care unit. |
