会展描述	The fundamental thought that brought about this meeting is still highly relevant. Surgeons from Central-European countries – except for Austria as the only western one – face similar concerns and difficulties. Characteristic problems in structural transformation and financing evolved in all Eastern block countries during the interim period following the collapse of the socialist system. Therefore this meeting is an excellent forum to share our ideas for possible solutions and utilize our Austrian friends experience in this regard, who can deeply empathize with us due to the common cultural and historical roots.    This meeting also serves as an excellent platform to discuss our scientific results, assess the strengths and weaknesses of each individual countries of the region and devise a common strategy of active participation and leadership in the surgical science in Europe.
